The next thing to do was to build the DVD drive bracket. I had drawn it out in the design, but it still needed a little tweaking - there were still a few problems left unsolved, like how I was going to bring the IDE cable and the power to the drive. I decided to solve this in the making.
It started by making all the parts that I already knew were fine. Again, lots of sanding and measuring :(
Here is what it looks like after I glued it together. Notice the small mounting holes in the sides? These are the exact measurements where the DVD drive has to be fastened to the bracket - I just measured them on the drive and put them on my 2D drawings, and used printouts as templates. To finish these holes off I had something special in mind...
This plexi plate will go behind the screws that hold the DVDrom. I\'ll have them etched with the text \"HYPERCUBE²\" and if possible they will be back-lit :D
A nice result, but still the problems aren\'t solved: the plexiplate in the back isn\'t glued yet, and it still needs some drilling. But at this moment I don\'t know how...
All mounted together it looks like this. I\'ve polished the hard drives in this picture, so let me explain how I did this...
